tromsofloating.com is an independent guide to the Arctic floating tours that start from Tromsø, Norway. This page explains who runs it, how it is financed and where the information comes from.

Who is behind this site

tromsofloating.com is run by Patrick Kühne, an independent travel publisher based in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, Germany. He builds and maintains a small portfolio of guides to attraction tickets and day tours. There is no agency and no rotating editorial team behind this site: the pages are researched, written and kept up to date by one person, the same one who answers the e-mails.

What this site does

Floating in a fjord in winter sounds simple until you try to book it. Which suit do you get, and what goes underneath? How long are you actually in the water? Who is too young, too tall or too heavy? Do you need to swim? We put the floating tours from Tromsø side by side and answer these questions for each one, from the product pages: where you float, how you get there, time in the water, height, weight and age limits, and what comes after the float. We are not a booking agent; every reservation happens on the booking platform.

How we earn money

When you book through one of our links, the booking platform pays us a commission. Your price stays exactly the same: the commission comes out of the platform's margin, not your pocket. No contract obliges us to favour a particular operator, and our tables are sorted by number of reviews, not by what pays us best.

Where our information comes from

Prices, ratings and review counts come from our booking partner's API and are refreshed automatically. Tour facts (duration, meeting points, what is included, who can join) come from the operators' product pages and are re-checked regularly. Where a product page leaves something open, for example a minimum age, we say so instead of guessing. Found something out of date? Write to us and we will correct it.

What we are not

We do not run any floating tours and we are not affiliated with any operator mentioned on this site. They run the tours; we describe them. For binding information (cancellations, weather calls, schedule changes) the operator's own channels always take precedence.
